Innkeeping Conference
We attended the annual Professional Association of Innkeepers International Innkeeping Conference, held this year in Little Rock, Arkansas. We gained so much information about new technology, industry trends, website design and so on. Watch for changes over the coming months which we know will improve our service to you.

Peter Deneen
In the trade show we were able to continue our policy of buying American, and in the photograph Mary is with Peter Deneen, founder/owner of DENEEN POTTERY in St. Paul, MN. Celebrating their 40th year in 2012, they issued a new mug called "The Patriot". As first purchasers, our Patriot mugs are numbered and signed by Peter. Call 717-249-0350 to order these mugs from our Gift Shop.

Happy New Year!

We wish all of our friends
a Happy and Prosperous 2012!!

A feather - or QUILL - in our cap

SR Logo

Select [si-lekt] Chosen in preference to another or others; selected; choice; of special value or excellence; careful or fastidious in selecting; discriminating; carefully or fastidiously chosen; exclusive.
2012 will be our first full year as a member of Select Registry - Distinguished Inns of North America. Select Registry was founded in the late 1960s by Norman Simpson, an inn aficionado who compiled a directory of just 12 carefully selected properties, mostly in New England. From that small beginning, Select Registry has grown to be the premier collection of the finest accommodations and hospitality in the USA and Canada. As all inns are inspected and accredited on a regular basis, you can be assured the Carlisle House and all Select Registry properties maintain the exceptional standards set by the Association.

This of course makes it even more pleasing that you can stay with us at any time during January for two consecutive nights at a saving of 50%! And in February - come "Share the Love" with another very special deal!

Market Cross Pub and Brewery

MCP
Named for the Celtic Cross in the Market Square of Carlisle, England, the Market Cross Pub celebrates our connection with a great selection of beers, and some wonderful pub food including a wide selection of sandwiches, spectacular Fish and Chips, and an awesome Garlic and Rosemary marinated Pork Sirloin!

An interesting selection of Daily Specials has recently included Bacon Wrapped Medallions of Pork Tenderloin, cooked (according to Dennis, one of our guests) to "absolute perfection, juicy and just a little bit pink in the middle!". One of our other guests, an Italian-American from New York described the Market Cross Tuscan Pasta quite simply as "the best pasta I ever tasted!".

In their brewery at the rear, and with their own 10 barrel open-fermentation system that was brought over from England in 1933, they produce a variety of ales and lagers for the Market Cross Pub to complement the wide array of American and International beers and ales they offer.

Whether it's a banquet, family gathering or simply a night of fine dining, Rillo's Restaurant caters to your needs.

Outside Carlisle

We have some great restaurants in Carlisle, but just occasionally we like to visit others nearby.
Bricco is a great place for a really special occasion. TripAdvisor.com rates it as the #1 restaurant in Harrisburg, and we think so too In the center of the historic part of the city, Bricco is just 25 minutes from the Carlisle House.

Chalit's Thai Bistro is known for its Thai Tapas which you can get at lunch-time in half portions. Their "Specials" board always has interesting additions to the regular menu, and you can choose your level of spiciness from a 1-4 range Chalits is about 20 minutes from the Carlisle House and is BYOB.

The Cellar Cheesesteak Eggroll. What more do we need to say? Well, how about Cellar Mac and Cheese? But this one has Lobster, Jumbo Lump Crab, Chevre, Lancaster County Cheddar, Baby Swiss, Asiago, Rigatoni, and a Panko Crust. Yum! The Cellar is about 25 minutes from the Carlisle House and is BYOB
