One of the amazing fireworks in Carisle's Summerfair celebration of Independence Day 2012 Start planning your Independence Day trip to Carlisle for 2013 now! With the Gettysburg Battle Sesquicentennial under way for next year, this will be a great time to visit Carlisle! Not only are we just a short car ride to Gettysburg now, but we were also a looooong horse ride for JEB Stuart's light artillery and cavalry when they were here shelling our town when they should have been at Gettysburg with Lee!

If you have an interest in the run-up to the defining battle of the Civil War, then you need to be here in Carlisle next year! Keep an eye on our newsletters for more information about activities here in the Downtown, at the Army Heritage Trail, and in Gettysburg itself. Remember, we are members of the Gettysburg Foundations so you can pre-purchase your Gettysburg Museum and Cyclorama tickets right here at the Carlisle House!

Check out our Restaurant Guide

Mt Fuji is a great Japanese Restaurant, serving sushi, sashimi, and cooked Japanese dishes also. We have always enjoyed our visits to this restaurant and it has proven to be a real favorite of our guests as well, in fact many of our "big city" guests proclaim it to be the best sushi they have ever had! It is difficult for any restaurant to make everybody happy, but this one has six reviews on TripAdvisor.com, all in the Very Good or Excellent categories.
The last time Mary and I were there we ordered the "Love Boat" special which was served quite literally on a wooden boat laden with sushi and sashimi. Mary took one look and said to me "We can't eat all that!". We did! As it is BYOB the price for a great meal can be extremely reasonable.

We really recommend making reservations here, particularly when Dickinson College is in session. Students and their families love it and on College event weekends it is always packed out.
